General Information

Abstract Book and Abstract CD-ROM

All accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book and on the Abstract CD-ROM. Both will be available on site. The Abstract CD-ROM can be obtained at the Bristol-Myers Squibb booth (booth number 04). Please use the voucher to be found in the conference bag.

Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

Several ATMs are located in Building A of the Sava Centar.

Catering

Catering areas are located throughout the conference venue:

  • Building A, 1st and 2nd Gallery
  • Building B in the Art Cafe, next to Amphitheatre

Lunch and Coffee breaks will be provided on Thursday, October 13 and Friday, October 14, 2011. Participants also have the opportunity to buy refreshments in the Restaurant (ground floor Building A).

Certificate of Attendance

The Certificate of Attendance will be given out to eligible participants at the conference bag desk.

Climate

Belgrade has a moderate continental climate with four seasons. The average temperature in October is between 10° C and 18° C.

Closing Remarks

The closing remarks will be given on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 11.00 - 11.30 in the Plenary Hall.

CME Credits

The 13th European AIDS Conference/EACS is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. the EACCME is an institution of the European Union of medical Specialists (UEMS) www.uems.net.
 
The 13th European AIDS Conference/EACS is designated for a maximum of 19 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
 
EACCME credits are recognized by the American Medical Association towards the Physician's Recognition Award (PRA). To convert EACCME credit to AMA PRA category 1 credit, contact the AMA.

Conference Bag

The conference bag, containing the conference material, will be available at the conference bag desk in the registration area.

Conference Courtesy and Code of Conduct

As a consideration to all conference participants, mobile phones should be turned off in all session rooms. Conference participants are also expected to refrain from the following:
1) Inflicting personal threat or harm to any conference participant, exhibitor or staff
2) Inflicting damage to any property
3) Preventing speakers from giving their speeches
4) Although in general smoking is allowed in public areas, the EACS follows a non smoking policy. It is forbidden to smoke in any conference session rooms, catering areas and meeting rooms.

Currency

The Serbian currency is the Serbian Dinar which comes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 5000 dinars, as well as coins of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 dinars.
Credit cards (Visa, Eurocard, MasterCard and Diners Club) are accepted in most shops, and ATMs are widely available in downtown Belgrade. You can use Visa, Visa Electron, Plus, MasterCard, Eurocard, Maestro and Cirrus branded cards to withdraw money from an ATM. Belgrade ATMs require 4-digit pin codes.

EACS Pre-Educational Course

The EACS Pre-Educational Course will take place on October 12, 2011 from 09.45 - 17.10.
It is intended for junior physicians managing HIV infection. The course is free of charge to anyone interested.

Electricity

As in most cities of continental Europe, the electricity voltage in Belgrade is 220V. Electrical outlets are standard European.

Filming and Picture Taking

It is forbidden to film/videotape any of the conference sessions.

Insurance and Liability

The conference organiser, the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS), the EACS Conference Secretariat and the Sava Centar shall not be held liable for personal injury or any loss or damage to the belongings of conference participants, either during or as a result of the conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Internet Cafι

The Internet Cafι is located at the European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) booth (booth 01). It is free of charge to all registered participants.

Language

The official conference language is English.

Letter of Invitation

Individuals requiring an official Letter of Invitation in order to obtain a visa and authorisation to attend the conference should visit the conference website. In the registration menu, the Letter of Invitation is available for download. The letter of Invitation does not financially oblige the conference organiser in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the conference are the sole responsibility of the participant.

Name Badge

A name badge is required for admittance to all official conference sessions and events. Each participant is required to present the name badge in order to gain access to the conference. The name badge must be clearly displayed.

Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony will take place on October 12, 2011 at the Sava Centar, from 17.30 - 19.30. All registered participants are invited to attend this event.

Passport / Visa Requirements

Delegates from countries outside of Serbia will need a valid passport to travel to Serbia. Visa Requirements Delegates should contact the nearest Serbian embassy or consulate for visa details.

People with Disabilities

The Sava Centar is accessible to conference participants with disabilities.

Poster Area / Poster Sessions

Posters will be presented on Thursday, October 13, 2011 and on Friday, October 14, 2011 from 12.00 to 14.00. Poster authors are asked to be present next to their poster during these times. Posters must be set up from Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 15.00 and 17.00 and must be removed between 11.00 and 12.00 on Saturday, October 15, 2011.

Programme Changes / Date of print

The organisers shall not be held liable for any changes in  the programme due to external or unforeseen circumstances.

Public Transportation

Belgrade's trams, trains, trolley buses and buses make it easy to move around the city. A particularly useful route for visitors is tram 2, which circles the city centre, connecting the train and bus stations with Trg Slavija and the Old Town.

Bus lines 17, 18, 67, 88, 94, 95 and 601 as well as tram lines
7, 9, 11 and 13 connect the Sava Centar with various stops
within the city.

Speaker Centre

Invited speakers and oral abstract presenters must report to the Speaker Centre at least four hours prior to their presentation in order to check and deposit their presentation.

Taxis

Taxis are available throughout the city of Belgrade, especially at the airport, train stations and hotels.

  • There is a Taxi information stand at the arrivals hall of the International airport Belgrade. If you wish to take a taxi to your destination, go to this stand and state your destination. You will be given a voucher with the price you will have to pay the taxi driver once you get to your destination. There are 5 zones with prices ranging from 1500 to 7000 dinars (around 15-70 Euro). New Belgrade and the city center are in the first, cheapest zone and getting there will cost you 1500 dinars (around 15 Euro). Apart from the voucher you will be given a leaflet with information on what to do if the taxi driver charges you more than the amount stated on the voucher.
  • Once you obtain the voucher, exit the building and get the taxi
  • When you get to your destination, pay the taxi driver the fee stated in the voucher

Please don’t forget to exchange money at the airport if you do not hold any dinars.

Water coolers

Water coolers are located throughout the Sava Centar and are free of charge for everyone.
